One of the biggest reasons people get upset is hear-say, aka gossip.
Nothing is more infuriating than finding out that someone has been talking about you, behind their back.
Either telling someone else a truth that you shared in confidence or someone creating lies about you.
When you find out who it is, your gut reaction is to confront them.
But most of the time, rage takes over and without any restraint or knowledge of the full story, you blow up like a bomb.
But when you assume, you make decisions based off of half of the story.
We’ve all had those moments when you go off on someone but then realize that you’re upset at the wrong person.
Your rage took over and wanted to destroy everything in its path without a full sense of what was going on.
None the less, you now feel foolish and stupid for making such assumptions.
After it’s all said and done, you feel pretty guilty, huh?
Well if you were to control your rage, take a step back, remained calm and get a clear picture of the situation, you wouldn’t of acted so foolishly.
That’s why I’m Proverbs 29:11, Solomon wrote:
“Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.”
If you were able to control your rage and remain calm, you would’ve been able to make a decision based on all the information and logic.
As when you allow anger to control your decisions, you are making those decisions with selfish emotions, which will make you look foolish.
So the next time you feel anger arising within, remember that if you don’t calm down and control that rage…
You will make yourself look like a FOOL!
